The Vassar Faculty 1865-2011

Beginning with Maria Mitchell, the first person appointed to the faculty, Vassar's legendary teachers and scholars have left their indelible imprint on the college and have profoundly influenced the lives of generations of students. As much as the bricks and mortar — Main Building, Thompson Library, Taylor Hall, Rocky — they are Vassar College. Included in this slide show are portraits of many of these legendary professors* from 1865 to the present day.
